solar system

MelissaJA

We aren’t together anymore

But

When we were

My world revolved around him like he was the vibrant sun

I was just a planet

My orbit attached to

The center of my world

Convinced the sun

Circled around me too.

But that’s not how the system works.

The sun is the center of the universe

Surrounded by more

Than just myself

His glow shifting

From one to the next

Leaving me in darkness

Longer with each phase

Until one day

I collapse

Into an empty black hole

Feeling nothingness

But the emptiness and hurt

Unable to glimpse

The rays of the sun any longer

Without sucking them in

And manipulating them

Into pitch black.

appreciate how long you kept with the Sun metaphors, its not an easy thing to do, we mostly jump from one source of metaphor to another when we write,
I think that element of continuity has sustained the flow and sincerity in your write,
    an engaging read
