Goodbye

Brooke Snyder

I hope that this isn't forever,

but I need to let go of who you once were.

So goodbye to the father that I once knew,

goodbye to the pinky promises,

to the dances. in the living room,

to the endless stories, real or not,

and all our spontaneous adventures.

Goodbye to my hero.

To my protector.

To my coach.

To my shoulder to cry on,

and my best friend.

I will always love you more,

hopefully you will return to me one day,

but for now, goodbye dad.
