L. B. Mek

In the Quite

In the Quiet, I often hear

whistling whispers of stifled peace

to know, to have seen - through

to taste and have been served

a plateful, for a life: full

of youthful blunder or silver haired bluster.

I, dance with the glistening pearls

within a pocketful of hurricane shells

handful sized twisters, jostling

gushing waves of murky - Seabed truths

into forefront strands of pinprick thoughts

musings, of yesteryear haunts

of friends

scintillating conversations intertwined

with bitter frustrations

to, happenstance gifted scenes

of life-affirming Spring blossoms

within Winter’s tailwinds

of she, such beauty wrapped in effortless grace

as aching fingers yearn

for one more - once more: of everything, once mistaken for certain

to have it returned with those parting clouds

that herald - an end to monsoon seasons, beckoning

a landing strip of Sunshine warmth in forgiveness’ arms

of dreams, whimpering in corners

carpeted with unjust failures

lost - amongst life’s: coiled corridors.

A thread tugs, at ashen lips

as despair’s crusts - melt away

with a quick sip of sugared comforts

as tired bleak reverie - swivels

to those sweet remnants

of all the good bestowed - by all the givers

who tattooed and armed this unworthy heart

with strength enough, to keep on smiling

lost - in those echoes: of youth’s harvested mementos.

Beautifully written, second stanza I enjoyed reading the best! Love life 's reflection in your eyes!

    • L. B. Mek

thank you for the encouraging comment, I agree the 2nd stanza is the most poetically ambitious and its last two lines are one of my favourites

Eloquent and absorbing use of our lovely language so well expressed in the pearl of a write. I enjoy anything you write - not only poems but also your comments.

      • L. B. Mek

Wow, I am so grateful, firstly to have found your writing and discovered a source for easing some of the dreary out of life's monotonous elements, but secondly: to have you be so kind and supportive towards this meagre efforts I pen,
        thank you!

A wonderful write LB. The second verse is so life affirming.

I'm glad you thought that, although this is a little bleak - at parts and a little too direct - at parts, ultimately I see it as a contemplative musing on a sustainable modus vivendi: to our time between those blinks of life,
          thanks for the support Andy

if it aint enough you go around sweet talking all those ladies, now you're gona try and make a grown-ass man blush...
              thank you my friend!

I popped back here to take a peek and stayed for longer than I had anticipated .... some might say I was loitering .. I would rather suggest it was a linger .... still beautifully crafted and otherwise timeless ...
