Words
Put ink to paper
and draw a sketch
or paint a perfect scene
with words that
tinge the truth
like green
Colleen, or nineteen..
Put ink to paper
and arouse a feeling
or stir a tender mind
with words that
spice the truth
like caraway
parsley, or thyme.
Write a letter from faraway
and express a deep desire
or seek a reply
with words that
taint the truth
like Dubai
Brunei, or Versailles.
Write a letter from faraway
and tell her that you miss her
or that you may return
with words that
approach the truth
like learned
burn, or yearn.
Ink upon her written reply
tells an unrequited tale
containing a gloomy plot
with words that
speak the final truth
like forgot
caught, or absolutely not!
Put ink to paper
and produce a sense of irony
in a perfect vignette
with words that
entice the truth
like brunette
coquette, or Yvette.

Putting ink to paper can give us such freedom with the words that we write. Good words Phil.

Thanks Andy. You're right, Poetry can give us the freedom to escape this constrictive lifestyle we all now lead. Words can take us anywhere we wish to go.
Good write.
Thank you, orchidee. Glad you liked it.
You have poemed the power of words so well here Phil - - great read.
Thanks Fay. Those things we call words are very powerful, raising images just by their mention. Perhaps a new form of poetry that's just a list of words.
I love words and this so well expresses the power of them - great write Phil
You are very respectful of words and language. It is appreciated highly that you enjoyed this poem.
Thank you.
Love it!
Thank you RB. words are what we live by.
this is certainly a whole lot more cleverer than wot it might first seem ..
You have used the tools of our trade precisely and skilfully and anyway, anyone who can squeeze coquette into the last line of summat like this deserves another crack at Yvette ....
