No Second Chances

daydreaming

I left your bed just before sunrise
You knew the reason for my silence
You then got up to see me cry
I may leave my things behind
I guess it's time to say goodbye.

I know you tried to say you’re sorry
No matter how you tried and tried
You couldn’t bring yourself to say
It’s time that we both recognize
This was a painful waste of time.

How much more could I have said
You still don’t know what’s wrong or right
I guess you better think again
When I walk away this time
There'll never be a second chance.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I am not proud to say that I am the villain in this poem. I am trying to capture and understand the pain I cause when a relationship does not work out. It is always my fault.
