FACELESS

Hinnant

No smiles.
No frowns.
Slogans and colors abound.
Scared and hiding.
Only eyes staring out.
Faceless people everywhere.

No smiles.
No frowns.
Sometimes noses escape
Tired of hiding in the dark.
All the eyes staring.
Faceless people everywhere.

No smiles.
No frowns.
No lips to be found.
Blank expressions.
Eyes staring at me.
Faceless people everywhere.

No smiles.
No frowns.
Conformity and compliance.
Obedience at all costs.
Staring eyes.
Faceless people everywhere.

No smiles.
No frowns.
Only faceless humans.
Hiding and afraid.
Eyes staring beyond.
Faceless people everywhere.

  • Fay Slimm.

You describe the present fearful condition of faceless communities so well Hinnant -- welcome to M.P.S. and hope to be reading more of your work.

The eyes say a lot though! Sometimes they are smiling above those masks.... but you're right, it's strange. Welcome!
