“i learned today God’s the uncaused cause and i’m an ivf baby”

i’m so contingent,

born of two people, but i’ll

die in His image.

  • Comment from author about the poem: 17Title/17Body, 5-7-5 Haiku Since no one has an absolute DUTY to have children - no one, consequently, has the absolute RIGHT to have a child. It’s the child born outside of the loving marital embrace of one mother and one father that is hurt most in the long run. The good news is that a child, even if conceived by the most egregious means possible, is still endowed with a unique and beloved soul by God and made in His image. God truly makes good of our human foibles and miscalculations.

Thank you Orchidee! Happy belated St John Henry Newman feast day. I know, I know - you don’t FORMALLY celebrate the day of death of great Christian’s like we do in the Catholic Church - but get this: in a break with tradition, St. JH Newman’s feast day (this year is the first year it appeared on the calendar given his recent canonization), October 9th, is the day St. Newman converted to Catholicism and NOT his day of death. As far as I know St. Newman is the only saint where the Church celebrates a conversion date rather than a death date!

We have the birth date of St John Baptist - June 24th.
If we're playing 'pew filling' - aww, that's one 'defected' to RC! (ooh lol).
Oh St Newman, not St John Henry?! Don't tell a certain church this, or they'll give a ya hellfire sermon, lasting minimum of 30 minutes. They always last that long. I can't bear 2 doses of it in one day (Morning and Evening Services). Not that I go twice these days. Not that I even go to that church much. Do shut up Orchi, you're waffling! lol.

You are correct, it is St. John Henry Newman to be exact, Orchidee.
