Night Visit

Dasim

If you came to visit me

At that moment of night

When shadows lose their way

And can’t pursue us;

Would you accept my love,

Or frown at my faults?

Would you hear a song of hope,

Or a litany of sorrow?

Would your fingers brush my cheek,

Or hold my hand?

Would you dance and laugh,

Or lie down quietly beside me?

And, if we could travel in time,

Would you choose the Past,

Or what is yet to come?

Would you speak of all we did,

Or of what we could have done?

Perhaps you would just stare

In silence and wonder

Marveling at all that was,

Watching memories disappear

On the wings of songs

That only we would hear.

Or maybe you could come

At that moment

When darkness, defeated,

Surrenders its soul to loving light.

You can come anytime,

The future awaits

Draped in a pure white

That the Past cannot stain.

The room is warm

And the walls smile softly

Ready to accept all burdens,

And forgive all wrongs.

Maybe soon you will come

And we will be together.

like the unfolding thought patterns in your write, wonderful imagery and some insightfully witty commentary on our perception of self: juxtaposed with other's perception of ourself, contemplating what qualities may be prioritised in the eyes of love
