My Invisible Hero

LeighB

I came to watch you at Beavers today,
I was as proud as any mother can be,
Looking so smart with a heart full of love
I was proud you belong to me.

I watched as you sat and scanned the room
hoping for just one friend,
even your special one hes joined the group,
the group you cant befriend.

They dont see the person you are
and it's not easy for you to show,
the awesome little dude within you,
oh I wish I could to teach you to know.

Your kind and special and full of love,
One day you'll understand,
until that day my baby boy
we'll do this hand in hand.

I know for you it's just enough
that they are not horrible and mean,
but baby boy you deserve so much more than the invisible member of the team.

You didnt belong there with them boys,
they wouldn't let you in,
but you know what son it's not there fault
they cant see what lies within.

Your brain is full of magic,
your heart its full of love,
you know things other boys your age
wont learn for years to come.

You know about acceptance,
you know how hard this world can be,
you've had to learn tough lessons young
they will help you eventually.

Cause when I look at you and feel our connection
I think it's such a waste,
that only we know what lies within
your handsome little face.

You'll grow up strong,
your confidence will grow
I'll teach you how special you are
to them you may be different but to me your an absolute star.

Who gets up every single day
to fit in to a world that don't understand.
That doesn't appreciate your qualities
a constant battle for just one friend.

You'll grow up strong my baby boy,
grow as kind and loving as you can be
to them you may be the autistic boy but your an absolute hero to me!!

Having read your piece dear autism i decided to look at your other pieces and i'm so glad i did.
This is another gem. Selfless unconditional love shines from its emotion and structure.
I know how connecting with others appears a challenge for those with autism but this chap seems the sort of guy anyone would be pleased to call a pal. I know I would.

So glad I found this, in the words of John Keats:
"Beauty is truth, truth beauty,--that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."
and I know: that these words you have penned, define Beautiful in its raw and most courageous visage - to me! Thank you for letting me meet, your wonderful boy - through your mesmeric words, it is and will ever remain, my privilege to have met a soul who inspired such a gloriously heartfelt dedication!
