A hand written sign and a few flowers no 24 hour coverage wrong place wrong time only time will tell just ahead of the tsunami of censorship you took a bullet for your country no parade of lawyers or loud family members domestic terrorism in your crosshairs you advanced for your cause without weapons just your resolve your small frame filled the frame and the officer fired you fell back and you breathed your last pronoun madness a violent abrading of the truth and assault on telos too attacks against the family and natural law you continued to serve country in spite of all its faults and flaws as you lay there dripping in blood your body draped in red white and blue Ashli Babbitt you did what you felt was faithful and true.

- Comment from author about the poem: Today we will test just how free speech really is in America. My own talking points below, parsed as I’ve added them in other social media platforms: Understanding “Ashli Babbitt” 1. No punctuation - one long sentence: indicates disorder, perhaps disorderly conduct, and potentially the breaking of rules. Other than being written as an eulogy- this piece follows no rules of end rhyme, meter, or form - it is chaotic - it is a segment of writing where rules are being broken left and right whether you the reader agree with me or not. Stay tuned for more. Understanding “Ashli Babbitt” 2. “just ahead of the tsunami of censorship...” In an appalling act of disrespect and lack of decorum, a US sitting President is permanently removed and his free speech censored from all major social media platforms. This comes after major media outlets begin a public gaslighting campaign accusing the January 2021 breach of the US Capitol on the President of the United States. Stay tuned for more. Understanding “Ashli Babbitt” 3. “wrong place or wrong time only time will tell ... “ the poet is withholding any sanctimonious judgement as to whether Mrs. Babbitt’s alleged criminal entry would lessen the impact of or justify her killing. The poet believes this is in accordance with the way much of America has judged other 2020 killings in America. Stay tuned for more. Understanding “Ashli Babbitt“ 4. “no 24 hour coverage...no parade of lawyers or loud family members...” this is an allusion to several other high profile 2020 shootings/killing/apprehension by US law enforcement officers where the alleged perpetrators were resisting arrest when the tragedy occurred. These stories dominated the media’s attention with families and prominent attorneys getting major media coverage, funeral processions, criminals being declared community heroes, and resulted in the call for defunding US police departments across the country. The general public was cajoled to say the names of the deceased people. Stay tuned for more. Understanding “Ashli Babbitt“ 5. “domestic terrorism in your crosshairs...” from the poet’s own research he concludes that Mrs. Babbitt, a 14 year veteran of the US Air Force, whether correctly or incorrectly, had made the conclusion that domestic terrorists were positioning themselves to occupy the highest level of our government. Stay tuned for more. Understanding “Ashli Babbitt“ 6. “pronoun madness a violent abrading of the truth and assault on telos too attacks against the family and natural law” - are these Mrs. Babbitt’s grievances? No they are the poets and he believes them to be precursors brought by an increasingly radical, left leaning socialist government that the Founding Fathers would have vehemently resisted; subverters of the constitution; and yes, even the harsh censure of domestic terrorism. Legitimate grievances when repeatedly discounted by the courts, legislators, and public authorities create a pressure cooker environment with no release valve. Free speech is a satisfactory relief valve and when properly and peacefully conducted and equally allowed (say at college campuses) can prevent escalating activity such as criminal riots, trespassing, looting and the loss of lives that we’ve all witnessed in 2020 and now 2021. Pas vobiscum!

'A hand written sign and a few flowers no 24 hour coverage wrong place wrong time'
whatever our individual views on what transpired that deeply regrettable day (for all sides involved: including us voyeurs of human suffering, watching-on from the comfort of our couches),
what I have highlighted from your write, is a poignant point you make: the inexcusable and blatant manipulation of the so-called 'free press' to portray historical events and actions of people, in whatever way their political mindset is 'leaning': must end!
this continued indifference by tax paying citizens to the role 24 hour news channels and written press play, in misinforming or at the very least 'selectively' informing the general public must stop!
its those poisonous head offices that should be targeted and our spineless governments who cower to their demands just to insure they get to play their election adverts and propaganda vitriol every four years is utterly despicable!
Yes, yes, yes LB! Dialogue is our only hope. Thank you for your read and insightful commentary!
