Friend

SheWasTheSun

For now
I’ll take 3am texts
And my head on your chest
I’ll take your voice in my phone
While we watch our show
I’ll take tipsy conversations
And free therapy sessions
I’ll take kissing you in my sleep
And seeing you every few weeks
I’ll take a conversation that never ends
Even if we call each other friend

Maybe you’re not ready
Or maybe you know that I’m not
Maybe we’re taking things slow
So we don’t blow our shot
Maybe the past weighs too heavy
For each of us just yet
Maybe we’re just afraid
Of what hasn’t been said
But considering the alternative
I’ll take what I can get
For now, it’s enough
To call you my friend

sounds like a solid foundation y'all are building, if most relationships were built so carefully maybe divorce rates wouldn't be so high,
    good read
