In the beginning there were cold rocks with
painted animals that chose which way you’d run
toward or away from tomorrow’s undoing
in search of what the present can’t find
looking into the future with blind refusal
at the corner of time and space
taking back what forgiveness wouldn’t share
heating each rock until the images dance
—warming the night of a thousand dreams
—warming the night of a thousand dreams
(Dreamsleep: February, 2021)
Unholy Water
Has evolution
gotten bigger than God
With Darwin the prophet,
a wink and a nod
Has almighty reason
rechristened itself
To worship false dogma
—in spite of what’s felt
(The New Room: February, 2021)
Moving The Goalpost
To what extent
is reality persuadable
Are the fence posts in concrete,
the commas unknown
Are the laws of existence
as such, redefinable
The axioms fluid
—truth more than is shown
(Dreamsleep: February, 2021)
Matthew 7.7
Truth is a question,
all answers abstain
Its dream open ended
—wonderments gain
(The Book Of Prayers: February, 2021)
Truth Inflected
The question you didn’t have to ask...
the only answer you need

important questions, all!
having 'faith' is never a crime, its that dark side of Any limiting 'dogma' that creates obstacles,
the part where there is only One way and only One set of people may have access to this One saviour...
if we can't look at the endless Diversity within Existence and acknowledge, there may be more than One avenue for excavating answers to life's questions, then we continue Humanity's cyclical nature for self destruction:
a crusade one day, a jihad the next and on, and on, and on , and on....
and here comes Science, with its explanations as a new generation's Dogma, conquering all with its 'Humane': Atomic Bomb...
thanks for sharing a thought provoking write dear Poet, please forgive my cynical representation of your profound and searching words,
thank you for inspiring my little scribbled reply
When I was given my Lakota name (Wanna Hin Gle), it was amazing to me
how seamlessly native America combines native religion with christianity.
There was (and is) more than one road that leading to Rome,.
Thanks, as always.
Kurt
may I be so rude as to ask the meaning of 'Wanna Hin Gle', I am a fan of archaic languages and their ability to pack so much meaning within a name, be it African, Native American, Asian, Greek, Hebrew etc...
a lost Art, in of itself - I fear...
Hi LB,
The closest translation is ..."He Who Happens Now." It was given to me by a Lakota Elder
while I was writing "Searching For Crazy Horse."
