15 Readings - A Quatrain Anthology

Jerry Reynolds

Why Is It Hard?
Seems without much strife
Enough material in life
To pick a day without rain
And pack a bit in a quatrain.

Don’t Forget
With fifteen schemes to choose from
Memories of a lifetime to sort through
With needed courage and grit
Just boldly go forward and choose one.

Stay Focused
Focusing hard, with wit,
On the ABCD of it all
You get that hoary curve ball
Really, do you give a shit?

Fast Ball
The batter digs a solid ditch
Catcher decides on a pitch
Batter squares - strike three
High fastballs are such a bitch.

Winter Wind
Blowing hard this winter wind
As January nears its end
In late fall we may my friend
With shots & jabs hug each other.

Bean Bag Chair
After Sixty years of life
I render this sage advice
Your ass should, probably,
Not be below its knees.

Spring Love
Her love bloomed bright last spring
Pillow whispers you are my polestar
Rich with color became my armoire
Gone by winter solstice, adios mi amor.

Window North
I have watched spring to winter
Arrive and go forth
From this window north
Some grave some with flowers.

Alone
Inside a heart ache
Chilled to the bone
Struggle, no escape
Scared to be alone.

Being Fired
You want my files
Then you want my source
A less than cunning wile
This dismiss, with tender force.

Fantasy Morning
Magic morning not plain
Bluebird tweeting lilting refrain
For a Cricket of great fame
Dancing with top hat and cane.

Mold
From this window in the heart
Can see dampness in the soul
Blindly working on some art
Oh that morrow free of mold.

Thomas Arden
Take me down little Suzie
Take me down to Arden ground
His Blood will never desiccate
Waiting on judgment day.

Lament of a Shagger
The contour of loves gone
Are far more elusive than the
Stubborn shapes drawn
By loves that never were.

Love a Quatrain
If in your life it starts to rain
You could jump on a bus
Or take an airplane
As for me I prefer a quatrain.
