The Garden Path (+2)

Kurt Philip Behm

How do you balance

the kind and the cruel

The good and the bad

of life’s golden rule

As reason pulls tightly,

treason pulls back

Living in conflict,

together intact

Tragic, comedic,

while often as both

 Angels and Demons

commingle betrothed

A savior, destroyer,

calling our name

A garden of riches

—caught in the flames

(Haverford College: February, 2021)

The North Wind

Killer of dreams

—the moment says goodbye

(Pine Ridge South Dakota: July, 2009)

To My Children

For now, I want to see your face,

and gaze into your eyes

To hear your voice within my ears

—I’ll text you when I die

Hi Kurt, some very nice verse. "To My Children" I hear that.

Thanks Jerry. I know it's endemic to their generationā€”but I hate texting.

Another example of the artificiality of life in the new millennium.

Jekill and Hyde, finding a balance is as you write, a difficult thing.
Agree with you on the third one. I hate it when I call my son and he does not answer, but then I text and he texts back right away....

Thanks Fred. I stopped answering their texts a couple years ago but
then I didn't hear from them at all. šŸ™
