yellowrose

I am a candle

I am a candle living in a house

I am made for a flame of light

a flame is who I am at the core

without the light lingering at my wick

I am like a dove without wings

incomplete , missing the part that makes me me

when I sit idly without the flickering flame

I cry for that which is made for me

unfortunately I cannot speak up and make the flame appear like magic

I have to wait , and that's the problem with me

I have to wait for the flame to be a part of me

I have to wait until someone allows me to feel that which is mine

I have to wait

why do I have to wait

and why can't I make the flame grow

without a helping hand

    A fine write Rose.
I said to me plant 'How are ya?' It replied 'Fine, thanks; how are you?!'

Thankyou orchidee πŸ™‚ communication both ways . Shame the candle can’t light itself

You make a great point here, yellowrose. What would all the objects around us say if they could talk? In addition, the candle in your poem is also a great metaphor for our own lives. We too sometimes need an external action to get us going, or to start us on our journey to our purpose.

Yes , sometimes we need external help but sometimes we wish we could rely more on ourselves . Thankyou πŸ™‚ yes , what would they say . Thankyou for such a thoughtful comment

I love the theoretical imagining of a candle and how you brought life to it.

That candle is there waiting for you and I am sure that the spark in your words will light it very soon and that lightness will lead you into a wonderful life.

sadly, between the moment of conception and the realisation of our ideas and goals,
exists this chained feeling's of momentary stagnancy and inadequacy,
but eventually, if we persevere: we all,
get to feel that flame within us
            take shape and grow..
            another wonderful write dear poet
