Painted Faces

MendedFences27

Painted Faces

Painted Faces cast their smile

heartache hidden all the while.

Painted faces, sainted trust.

Painted pure, tainted lust.

Empty chairs, friends now gone.

Painted faces turned them on.

No one listened. No one cared.

Painted faces, many dared.

Painted faces straight from hell.

Lonely hearts like teardrops fell.

Token kisses left their spells.

Tricked by painted demoiselles.

Painted faces, trampled hearts.

Warm embraces torn apart.

Strong desires like burning fires.

Painted faces, ice cold liars.

Painted faces, hidden thirst.

Smoky places hide the worst.

Shattered hearts bleed in pain.

Painted faces strike again.

Painted faces phantom lovers

evil intent now discovered.

Painted faces take a life

ghostly white, blood red knife.

Painted faces disappear.

No one knew they were here.

Painted faces, so much falseness we see daily. A mask? Ask them why they wear it and they'll claim it's because everyone else does.... but oddly (or not) I don't.

The painted faces I see around me just make me laugh... who do they think they're kidding.

Yep, I like your post today. As you can see, it got me quite involved LOL.

Thanks DA. Glad you got involved with it. Too many masks of various sorts, some worn, some painted, some invisible. All hiding something.

there is more than one way of looking at anything .. and you sir just posted most of em here ... well penned mate..

Thanks Neville. More ways of hiding one's true feelings as well. Whether, by paint, or other means it's all the same.

        deeply impactful words,
a meditation on the consequence of actions from those with self-preservation (at best) and blinding greed utilised as their lives mantra,
some - falsifying ill-intent, creating connections to be purposed as a key to 'gain access', and taking little accountability for the damages: left in their wake..
your words surpass boundaries of identity's, and instead exemplifies our human tendency to cause so much pain in each others lives..
sorry if I'm mistaken in my interpretation dear poet, again I found your write thought provoking and full
of a meaningfully lived life's wisdom of truthful insight..
a great write! in my humble opinion

Thank you for all the kind words L.B. If one can cause another to think deeply, that is the poets reward.

Beautiful! Behind the mask, there’s so much pain,
Painted faces strikes again! Indeed! Love the rhythm
          and rhymes!

Thank you RB. Behind the mask, indeed, and there are so many of them. Those who hide their true feelings.
