Chasing my Breath

sylviasearcher

Purposelessness paints poetic bruise
Darkness deadens the illusion you choose
Red rushes and flushes and falls to her knees
Veins full of empty, who will you please?

When what you paid, wasn’t worth the cost
And what you found, is always lost
Nothing to No one, and less than that too
Drown in the ocean, and never see You

Sinking, unblinking, chasing my breath
Tighter and lighter, celebrating my death
If only the ending was as easy to write
As the stories of demons, I chase through the night

Starry night nuzzles into my neck
Snaps it in two and raises the wreck
Snatches my dying and breathes wings from my pen
Dead Poet’s glory burns again. And again.
