My Deal with Forever

Accidental Poet

I made a deal with forever

And all I had to do is love you

Where loving you Sharon

Is all I really wanted to do

And what’s the payoff?

What’s in it for me?

Your smile in the core of my heart

For all eternity

Even though I’ve not seen you

In nearly fifty years

Your smile within my heart

My life’s driving gears

Wandering through life

Without you here by my side

I’ve often asked God

Of the reasons why

Some would say it’s sad

To live my life this way

But they never knew you

And didn’t see your smile that day

But I don’t complain

Of why you went away

All I know is since you left

I’ve missed you everyday

Should our eyes ever meet again

Your smile is all I seek

And at no cost to you

My heart you’ll always keep

For you’re the sunrise in my heart

The poet within my soul

I told you I’d always love you

Loving you, my forever goal
