yellowrose

I am a leaf

I am a leaf

I live like a feather on a tree

my lighthearted nature sings in a whisper with the breeze

I am a leaf and somehow I am like a cloud with cotton wool words

I see a bird and I wander why

why can she fly and I am just sitting

I am not like her with wings in motion

me , I'm just a feathery lighthearted leaf sitting on a steady tree

balanced and still , held in the arms of my home

my tree , where I'm meant to be

I belong here , like the moon shining silver in the blue

I belong here amongst my leafy loveable feathery friends

but I can't help but wander what it would be like to have the wings of a dove

to be able to dreamily drift on the direction of my choice

to move a distance or two

expanding my horizon , seeing new scenes

new pieces of blue serene sky

to have a choice , grow wings

I do feel a feathery lightheartedness within

shame a bird can't take me on a journey

I could be held by a bird , she could help me

she could help me to experience the new

but I'm sat here like a friendly feather , in my home on the tree

knowing this is my place and the new isn't for me

Gorgeous Yellowrose - a very warm and serene poem. We have a made-up word in my family, it is "plumptious", it means to feel full and content, one might say "I feel plumptious" when sitting down on a soft sofa in a warm room after a good meal, and this poem made me feel plumptious.

I will honestly say I struggled to see if I felt comfortable or trapped! As it felt like a zone that can feel like home but yet maybe the wind was yet to help breeze passed that into a path of our own..

Thank you for sharing a lovely poem

Thankyou Dan šŸ™‚ to be honest I was probably kind of speaking of my experience of feeling a little trapped and wanting the new . Sometimes I bring my feelings into poems about things which are seemingly about something else .., it is about a leaf but prob a little about me , too

              Thanks for reading
