Teddy.15

NEW WORLD

There's a Deer outside my garden gate
just staring at me with his soft eyes
from beyond his wooden sanctuary
where he usually hides from the shooter

I see the pheasant has come to greet us
he is just walking on the main road
minding his own business
he looks relaxed, as we greet him

Gardens unspoiled
the rubbish that is usually left on the ground
by people who care for nothing
is invisible today
so pleasing on the eye

Even eating at the newly opened restaurant
of years gone by is a pleasantry
all tables being finely spaced so people can actually eat
without touching the shoulders of strangers

Shouldn't it have always been this way?

Wonderful write Teddy, it should've always been this way. I'm not a big fan of guns. Too many innocent people have died because of stray or even aimed bullets. Too much hatred in this world. Makes me wonder, is man the only species on Earth capable of hate?

I live in the countrside where they are allowed to hunt deer and Wilde bore, it's been incredible to see especially last year the animals up so close, I think we can all make a change for the better, I would be affraid to live in a land that you were allowed to carry a gun freely. Thank you for your beautiful review.

The hunting of animals is also one of my (pardon the pun) pet peeves. I just can't see the morality of the taking of another life. I know animals will kill other animals for survival, but for humans to kill for sport is insanity. I hope the animals come to visit you often. ; )

Deer are beautiful although I’ve never seen one in real life

I hope one day you will, they are not easy to find, I'm fortunate to live in the countryside.

Guns for humans should be banned, I just cannot understand why any animal should be shot or killed in any way.
In my walks with nature I have seen many deer and they are magnificent creatures to be with.
I hope your deer is with you often Teddy.

'the rubbish that is usually left on the ground

it would take an entire film, to convey
                    the deeply nuanced sentiment's
                    you've worded
                    with such unassuming: eloquence...
                    Brilliant!

Thank you dear poet, this was written last year after the first huge lockdown. I feel so proud you chose those lines. Thank you.
