The sun shines

The sun shines in the blue sky like a star that never gives up

standing still , a lamp that lives in waves of yellow

a circle of colourful contentment

smiling serenity on spring and summer days

a warm flame by a blue sea

standing still without a rock below her feet

she is a lamp living wisely with a happiness that never leaves

Even when the clouds collect in the blue

she’s still there smiling sweetly

lovingly glowing like a rainbow in the rain

the clouds may speak of rain but she continues to smile in a sunflower settled like manner

a merry yellow contentment standing without a rock

singing in the blue

a lovely lamp of vibrancy

you never see tears fall, raindrops or snow drifting and crying from her sunflower petals

no , she never cries , at least  we cannot see when the yellow speaks so sweetly

warming our skin

speaking silently in her colourful circle of contentment

so seemingly happy but we can never hear a word , a song , a laugh

the yellow speaks of all these

a happy girl living in the sky

letting us know through her personality that she is ok

vibrant , and joyful

she doesn’t have to laugh , sing sounds , even talk

she can simply smile at us in her colourful circle of yellow

be a sunflower smiling in the blue

the sun standing without a rock below her feet

Delightful. Such character you have given our life giving star. Even a pair of feet. Maybe she bathes those hard working feet when the clouds bring us rain..... well who can tell when she's out of sight?

Hello dusk arising , Thankyou πŸ™‚ maybe she does bathe her feet , and maybe she is sometimes sad .., even tho she has a yellow personality .... because even people who are seemingly full of joy , even they have their tears .., sometimes ,

Lovely Yellowrose πŸ™‚ I enjoyed the exploration of the sun's simplicity in performing it's duty - never crying, always shining, always serene, always smiling without expectation of reward or recognition.

        • yellowrose

Thankyou brimelow πŸ™‚ it does look to be smiling ... yellow looks like a joyful happy colour . But maybe when she disappears ... maybe it’s then that she cries .., when she’s not appearing in the sky ,

          Thanks for the comment

A beautiful tribute to our glorious sun - thank you Rose for sharing its sense of contentment with what and where it is..

Hi teddy πŸ™‚ I’m not sure what I meant when I wrote β€œ without a rock below her feet β€œ maybe the sunshine strength and inability to fall ... she doesn’t need a rock , because she will never fall . Sometimes I write lines and I’m not always sure what I mean ... but I like the way it sounds so I just write it lol

as i am actually married to a great italian physicist i see more deeply into this. i love your last lines, and would have to say you're a fabulous poet. which is the rock below her? fabulous stuff

i'd say i see happiness and lots and lots of colour.

I think the Sun may be blushing slightly but proud of being the subject of your words Rose. A great piece. ; )
