I remember when you were born:
a blood red moon
& an agony so intense, so sweet
I thought I would leave before you arrived.
So soft,
ever so quiet;
you bore it all a lot better than me.
You seemed to have found a peace all your own
but then hunger
never known
and we were bound eternally;
a life for you,
but beyond death for me.

I'm sorry my friend, without context
I found this hard to grasp
but in trying to comprehend
I read it a few more times
and then appreciated, the flow
and subtle: word choice placement..
a unique write, truly
Ah my friend, it's about giving birth - don't tell me you've never done it?? Maggie Nelson writes about how it's not the pain of labour that we forget, but how close we come to death when giving birth. Although I don't seem to have forgotten either of those things ha. I'm sorry it missed the mark
