come as you are
mixed catch of fish,
not as the world
scores life‘s brief game.
those too at war
can’t accomplish,
shrunken and curled,
when all are the same.
seem time’s gone far;
poetry’s all kitsch;
with flags unfurled,
a nation’s fame
falls below par.
matters not which
insults are hurled:
Name above name.

A fine write Gary, thoughtfully done.
I usually do AABB, but cannot carry it on through every verse, i.e. I start a different set of AABB for every verse.
You know those iamabic pentameters (IP)?!
I think it's 10.10.10.10. metre. In which case I've been using those IP's without knowing it! Nothing to do with Internet Protocol IP's though. lol.
Thank you Orchidee - yes, I love writing to the iambic pentameter! I equally love writing to other traditional forms as well, time permitting, that is, as I have to allow time to learn them. Cheers!
