My Amazing Grace

I see her piercing blue eyes

From the side of her face

She doesn’t look directly at me

Almost as if she’s shy?

Her porcelain skin, translucent

As if painted by Leonardo da Vinci himself?

Her delicate features are her beauty not her weakness

She is silent, not even a sign of breath

Although it’s raining outside

I can hardly see through the rays of sun

Beaming on her beauty

I have no reason to question why?

Because, I know exactly who she is

And as she finally spreads her magnificent wings

As if she’s simply stretching out the night’s sleep

There she is, in all her glory

My very own

Amazing Grace.

I'm all tpo familiar with lovely blue eyes who never meet your own. I have a daughter who has autism. Not meeting the eye is a common feature of the disorder. She's a happy giggly soul though with her very own amazing grace of innocence now in her 40's and much loved.

So yes your poem understandably brought my daughter to mind, but what a lovely piece it is. Stretching out the nights sleep from her wings. Yes, I can see she is your very own amazing grace.

my dear dusk, thank you for sharing, i hadn't given myself that connection. it is truly amazing what they can do for autism these days. my best wishes to you and your beautiful daughter.

if you ever get to see on youtube amazing grace sung by the celtic women you may find it accompanies my poem very well. i'm not good at using the tech stuff but this is a poem i would have loved to have had the music with. thank you dearest A.P amazing grace was a song my mother loved too.

                  • Accidental Poet

I just watched it. And I have to agree with you it would go great with your poem. If you want to add it to your poem, or any future poems I can help you do that. It's not hard at all.

Can a rainbow colour my spectrum? Can a cry from a child move my heart? Can a poem give rise, to an angel to guide, my pen as I sit here and write? A poem possessed of great beauty. Joe

Thank you with all my heart Joe, I have an enormous love for writing of angels. I'm thrilled you enjoyed this so much.
