A sleeping baby

A baby's face

A symbol of peace and tranquility, nobody can quite recreate the beauty of the unburdened soft face.

Their eyes dreamily closed Their sweet angelic smell fills the air, mouth hung open saliva wetting the corners of the mouth covered in a tribal patterned blanket, snug so tight that they look like they could almost choke.

Looking around the empty carriage, which once was so cramped with sweating bodies packed together, relentless chattering voices

You used to gasp for air but now there’s just rows of empty chairs, Instead the emptiness deafens

And the handful of people seem so distant Detached, faraway, far away from what used to be a typical, Friday night tube.

How can a connection be made when a face is covered with just eyes staring out

It feels more intrusive to stare, since your eyes are the focus, almost, as if they are burning through me

burning desperate for communication searching around for inclusion but us it an illusion

leaving behind tatters of ripped material that block your heart from your community.

A community that is within such a state of panic and anxiety, frown lines deepen on their faces as the pandemic spreads wider like a rip- roaring fire.

Burning eyes hide their vulnerability

their fear.

Right here is the unknown and the distant future looks dystopic

right here

In front of my flickering eyes is

A baby blissfully ignorant of the misery and suffering around his sleeping head , which almost makes you for a second believe that the pandemic doesn't exist

And that there's still a chance for equilibrium.

This sleeping baby is proof that peace can still be found

if we just try harder to close our eyes

But be careful, don't close them for too long or you'll miss your stop

check the mask is secure, handwash get ready

Corona life carries on

Wait it out until the darkness is gone,

whereby a peaceful sleeping baby will once again parallel humanity
