Emotional Sunburn

Emotional sunburn

Soul sunburn, with its invisible scars,
Inexplicablly inflicts mute agony
In inconsequential interactions.
You stand aloof, keeping your distance,
Fearful of even the gentlest touch
And its intangible scorching.

Your hunt for control in chaos, erupts to
Shield perceived pain and danger,
Keeping you safe in a familiar emotional chaos.
But the shields fight the balm, meant as calm and
You hold tight to known chaos
As known safety... that's too daunting a path.

You think I don't understand?
My  pain, my  barriers, my wounds, my chaos
Aren't the same as yours. Yet,
My emotional skin is burnt too.
I recognise your scaring.
Wounds are unique but pain is ubiquitous.

I wish I could save you your pain
But it is your pain.
You didn't deserve it
But you own it.
I didn't deserve my pain
But I own it.
We, at least, have that in common.

    I like the empowering theme
a sobering form of defiance and gusto
yes! we must, find a way to take
that next step, somehow - or else
    we'll all be doomed:
'Fearful of even the gentlest touch
    And its intangible scorching.

Your hunt for control in chaos, erupts to
    Shield perceived pain and danger,'
    (thanks for sharing, dear Poet
    a great read!)
