Accidental Poet

Because Now You’re a Poet

Man, woman or child

Sooner or later will know it

A craft of poetic words

A river of prose to row it

It’s a calling from deep within

Eagerly your Muse will tow it

Planting the seeds of inspiration

In your heart to sow it

Because once it starts

You’ll be compelled to roll it

If it feels sad

Then you’ll console it

Give it a beat

So you can control it

Add some strings

And you Rock and Roll it

Tell those apprentices

Too shy to show it

Keep reading and writing

Because now you’re a poet

he was a poet and he didn't know it. lol yes this rolled straight of my tongue, great words dear A.P i have a question for you, do all your friends and family run away when you tell them you have written a poem? mine do, seriously lol i don't believe every has a muse i have a few friends who wouldn't know how to put a sentence together in the best way possible they just hate words, they have other qualities though. great enjoyable write as usual.

And I know you also hear the calling Teddy. Well, no one I know now really knows that I write poetry. I did let on to my so-called best friend a few years ago and he would smirk like it was a big joke. Like he was thinking, "Real men don't write poetry". And I felt like saying, "And what do you know of being a real man?" Song writers are the same as poets. Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, John Denver, Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Gordon Lightfoot and a million others. Needless to say, that guy is no longer my best friend, never mind my friend. And the funny thing is, he has no idea why we're no longer friends. Lots of people have no clue as to what it feels like to have something clawing away at your insides to be put down in words. I seriously feel really sorry for those people.

            Well said dear Poet.

I'm used to referring to everyone on here by a name of some kind. What ever you're comfortable with. I'm known as AP ; )

              • Goldfinch60

Good words AP. I didn't know I was going to be a poet until that day I saw a work of art being created by my daughter.
