I Choose To Be Joker Wood – 1

Nafis Light

Someone told me yesterday
about ‘Anchoring Myself To My Worth’
and ya know what?
I am walking out of this play.

A Merry-Go-Round
of doubts of identity;
I have been a part of
and now I turn the button off.

I had been going on about being ‘A Joker’
for more than a year
as well as silently changing parts of myself
with endless things which seem to make things better.

Well, I am sticking with the name ‘Joker’
but ‘Wood’ because I like the colour ‘Brown’
as well as a deep connection with ‘Trees’;
My Real Self…is now ‘Unbound’.

Oh, these patterns?
These Quatrains?
This is how I started writing poetry
where there is a connection…a melody.

Say whatever comes to your mind
because I put those troubles behind
and continue on as Joker Wood
here and there…everywhere.
