Retirement

Thekkinkkattil

It’s time to say good bye

To friends and foes alike

To forget and forgive one and all

Relive and relent bygone days

Tiresome days, sleepless nights

Treacherous peers, endless calls

Terrifying reviews, tedious travels

 Midnight oil spent on files

Endless meetings, restless life

Adieu to one and all

All these for you to hold

Happily I leave you all

To chase a passion kept on hold

I was definitely built to be a gentleman of leisure forced to work most of my life for a crust by virtue of my poor selection of parents who were of themselves poor.
Relief some twenty years ago came with retirement...never regretted for one instant.
But your piece says it all neatly...no need for commentary at all.....

Retired from forced labor, to pursue adventures - make it memorable. Cheers

I can sympathise with the sentiments of your poem - I am long retired and enjoying all the new pursuits that work didn't allow - Enjoy yours to the full - The Third Age! Cheers John
