The Poet??

My words are like whispers, to your unconscious mind,

An emotion infusion so you’re not left behind.

Expression addiction, can't stop sharing you see,

Putting words down on paper is my therapy.

Provoke your emotions, do my words make you feel,

The words on the paper, as if for you they are real?

My expression, my emotion, and for no other gain,

Sharing with you, all my glory and pain.

Am I a poet? Share my feelings and doubt,

Don't care who listens, I'm just letting it out.

Am I a poet? I just write verse for a cause,

That's my own piece of mind, so no need for applause.

You think you know me, cause you know all the words?

But you just hear what I say, and repeat what you heard.

My life, my anxiety, that's where it all feeds,

It's mine to offload, not to fulfil your needs!

So raw deep inside, and it just comes spilling out,

Not written for you, that's not what it's about.

I put lyrics on paper, like my anxiety aid,

Get relief for a while, like the debt has been paid.

Am I a poet? Share my feelings and doubt,

Don't care who listens, I'm just letting it out.

Am I a poet? I just write verse for a cause,

That's my own piece of mind, so no need for applause.

Not sure if these words will ever be seen,

Not sure I care, I just write them for me.

Just my thoughts on paper, to empty my brain,

A filter, a release, an emotional drain.

Whether it's great, or just pain and hurt,

Wish I could switch off, press pause, avert.

The thoughts just keep coming, my minds on a roll,

No writers block here, cause it flows from the soul.

Am I a poet? Share my feelings and doubt,

Don't care who listens, I'm just letting it out.

Am I a poet? I just write verse for a cause,

That's my own piece of mind, so no need for applause.

I really like it . Works well 🙂 writing is a good outlet , and can be therapeutic . We should write for ourselves .., sometimes ... and if others like it then great .

Each of us gets to set our own standards, but for this alone the answer is yes, you are a poet. A sweet sincere exploration of a poem-maker's motivations and intentions. Real artists are courageous and this is brave in its modest way. Exposing oneself to the judgment of others is a small act of courage as well as trust. I hope your trust in us is merited. Thanks!

    Great versification.
You ask 'Am I A poet?' Yet you clearly state that you don't care: therefore this question must have been rhetorical: you did not expect an answer. I do hope that the affirmations did not make you feel too uncomfortable 😊
