Sorry

rebmasters

You have to forgive someone when they say sorry.
How many times before it is acceptable?
What are the correct words?
The magic words
that make it all better,
that soothe the soul
& heal the heart
like a cool balm.
Words can’t do that.
To forgive you
I have to go back to childhood
& erase history,
the part that’s me,
who never learned.
I grew up wrong
in the shadow
of a faith
that was as meaningless
as all of existence.
Every action I took was always wrong.
The first word I learnt was sorry.
I’ve said it so many times it’s lost all meaning.
That’s why I can’t accept you’re sorry
