This Evil

Joseph

This evil that covers all I see
This evil that drowns the hope in me
This evil praising Evil as good
This evil reigning as only good should
This evil over the blood-drenched lands
This evil guiding the killers’ hands
This evil ever trampling the meek
This evil ever slaught’ring the weak
This evil inside the racist mobs
This evil giving the corrupt jobs
This evil of babies beaten dead
This evil of children begging bread
This evil in every darkened house
This evil in every murd’ring spouse
This evil clenched in the drunkard’s fist
This evil hid in the traitor’s tryst
This evil which shoots the schoolchildren
This evil which rips mothers open
This evil above the fallen dad
This evil beside the sister stabbed
This evil choking the elderly
This evil letting Evil go free
This evil engulfs all I perceive
Yet God is good — in this I believe.

But that god created all that is evil too.

Thank you for reading and for your comment. If you\\\'d like, we can talk more about this! I am a Christian, and so I believe that God did not create evil, though I completely understand where you're coming from. What God did was that he created beings with choice/free will. If you truly give someone a choice to make between right and wrong (and not just force them to do what is right by making that the only option), they can choose to do what is wrong - and you giving them the freedom to choose does not mean you made them choose to do wrong. In the same way, evil does not come from God, but is a result of the choice(s) made by the beings he created with free will.
