A scent will often catch me
And send me back in time
A welcome interruption
A humbling remind
Some memories jump out at me
Some need to be found
Some of them are stubborn
And cant be brought around
They often leave me grinning
But are some are pushed away
All have had some influence
On who I am today
But every now and then
A scent will throw me back
A rush of pure nostalgia
That stops me in my track
A slow wet Sunday morning
Tucked in my childhood bedroom
The perfume of a lost one
As strong as when they held you
An adventure out with cousins
Close friends that time will part
A campfire near the beach
Staring at the stars
Those special little moments
Force me to stand still
Close my eyes and hold my breath
Imagine that it's real
Today runs past so quickly
I'll never ignore a tease
A chance to travel in time and visit
The moments that made me
