Down by an English sea

BusyB

The sea is Luke warm
A colour of blue I can't describe
Brown pebbles slippery with weed
Gritty sand catching you underfoot

Claws clattering between boulders
Beady eyes watching your every move
Warm rays burning your body
Despite the slick smear of lotion

Puddles of fallen ice cream
Spilt cans, water being sucked in the sand
Discarded inedible sandwiches
Crisp packets fly on high

Sticky bodies emerge from the sea
Salty skin dripping
Smiles on interesting faces
Searching for their striped towel!

  • Comment from author about the poem: I grew up near the Indian ocean, I love swimming in it whether it's warm or cool. I love what it has to offer above and below, I love being out in wide open spaces
