When you say
you’ll bring me meds,
do you mean
you want to take away my pain?
My faith yours to restore,
your healing touch will be mine evermore.
Or,
is it a chore?
Cleaning up your messes
before
starting again
with another beautiful more
than friend.
When you say:
don’t fall,
do you mean;
edge away from the precipice;
the unspoiled view
that is your face
is not worth gazing on
for fear of being turned to stone?
Like those who were held by Medusa’s gaze
(my love, that doesn’t make me afraid).
Or,
to just not admit how far I’ve fallen?
To keep it a sacred secret
& never tell you I want you,
so you can confide all in me.
When you say
affection makes you ache,
do you mean
I should leave you?
Harden my heart
for once,
remove my fingers from their place
embedded in your flesh.
Or,
that it’s bittersweet bliss,
that my heart against yours,
with all its pain, troubles
& mad mad love,
is right where it’s supposed to be.
When you say…
Do you mean…
Or…
How can I translate your thoughts/words?
We would have to speak the same language first

'to just not admit how far I’ve fallen?
To keep it a sacred secret
& never tell you I want you,'..
there's a symphony to our life's landmark moments
of lost-in-translation, gifts
see - when we are so assuredly, certain
we've expressed ourselves comprehensively
we live little wriggling room, to backtrack
and readjust
that's why, I gravitate to the melancholic wisdom
in your words, especially
those last few morbidly - sedate, lines
void of Disney's fantasy ending, shenanigans
no
this is a poem for us adults
who sip alcohol, like children: gulp-down
their milkshake - sweetness, of blissful ignorance
'How can I translate your thoughts/words?
We would have to speak the same language first'..
no need, dear Poet
just sigh in unison and clink glasses, in unity
that's enough empathetic communion, to serenade
and regress, those unshed tears mercifully - dry...
(Brilliant!!!
and thanks for inspiring
my little scribbled reply)
