Play Dead

Pacifique Niyitanga

Things are cruel,
World is so wild,
Humans are violent.
Look, you cannot stop this.

Keep working hard,
Learn and know more,
Think big and try harder.
Listen, we don't have eternity.

Enjoy and make friends,
Make money and get fans,
Be honest and get believers.
Remember, you will leave solo.

Commit no faults or sins,
Fight for peace and freedom,
Give them everything you have.
But, evil won't stop offending you.

Do what you can do.
You born weak, don't disguise,
Get what you deserve in good way
Then, live your life in your own style.

Give up on killing yourself,
Let them work hard and fight,
They will be rich, best and famous,
Remember, death don't care who you are.

  • Comment from author about the poem: [At the end of every stanza, there's a closing line which seem to be discouraging somehow, But this poem is made of thoughts from my mind( my points of view ). It is not for offending or discouraging someone. I wrote this for two reasons; please don't panic for the life ( do what you can do, or ask for help if needed ) and don't dive in deep thinking about what's not necessary like how you can change the world or the life, it's harder than how we think and many things respect the law of life. *Play dead but don't give up*]
