L. B. Mek

Placed, Setting's

Place setting, decorations

defining, those with one percentile ambitions

Carpe Diem, posterity’s defiled mantra

gratuitous, cross-planet flights

as fashion’s: cloud-suffocating grandeur

millennial’s break-neck thirsting, for pixelated sharing

immortalising – bites of the freshest, dim-sum

in that city of A.I. – Shenzhen.

Some’s placement setting, skewed

from their womb nests

inheriting other’s misspent youth, as credit lines

lives, dipped in convenience glue

accumulated while wading through

curriculums, of shallow-water social classes

branded classless: for removing

price-tags from their Snap-backs.

Stranded, from the outset

their scuffed boots - unable, to crunch gravel

without, buckling on beguiling landmarks

localised potholes: of aspiration’s graveyards.

Self-clap as a blink test, to reset

and exhale, those toxic strung-out misconceptions

uncork, that stiff neck

to savour: that first candyfloss - deep breath.

Mantle-clock posturing, abandoned

heart-rate tuned dreams, synchronised

season-blurring sprints, re-aligned

to marathoner perspectives

trusting instinct, to decipher nature’s timing

for goal-set: gliding.

Reach-out, and you’ll soon find

that same fresh-fried taste, on your doorstep

just, reign-in

that far-fetched, mindset

and align, your trajectory - straight

regret’s - baggage claims: are exempt.

    • Joe Dawson

Make the most of life, take all you need, but no more than that. A wise composition. Joe

      • L. B. Mek

indeed, no more - no less
a wonderfully succinct interpretation of my words
        thank you, dear poet

      • Poetic Dan

I just didn't know that to say at the end, so I just took a nice breath. That my friend is the most precious gift, without it I would Cease to exist.

        Always deeply appreciated!

        • L. B. Mek

          it's a rollercoaster of a read, I admit
hope you had a little fun my friend; lol
          thank you! for the sincerity
          in your encouragingly warm comment

        • PrEm Ji

A.I. from Shenzhen will eventually rule over mankind... only a poet could still speak-out in that crazy air too!

          • L. B. Mek

            oh, wow!!!
what a humbling privilege, it is
            to have your profound wisdom
grace my feeble scribble, dear Poet
            thank you!

          • Jerry Reynolds

            Beautiful evening read, L.B.
Now I have to make dinner and set the table.

            • L. B. Mek

              ... and life goes-on
              one meal, one smile
one step - of defiance, at a time!...
              Brilliant comment Jerry
              thank you, my friend

            • Accidental Poet

Very good words Mek, we will all have a straight trajectory one day.

                Andy

                • L. B. Mek

                  indeed Andy, hopefully
by then, we'll have worked out a destination
                  as well...

                • Neville

I'm sure I have been here a million times .. but only came to realise when my lithium levels began to fall ...
what a joyous experience and true .. 🙂

                  • L. B. Mek

                    indeed, so true
                    those dashes of poetic, resonance
                    we connect - to
when we least suspect, for the umpteenth time
                    because, our energy
is waning, and so - belatedly: we're listening...
                    (what an insightfully poetic, comment
                    my friend, thank you!)

                  • John Prophet

                    Sophisticated as always!

                    • L. B. Mek

                      lol
                      overtly Generous, as always
                      how very kind
                      thank you, dear poet

                    • SureshG

The mundane could not be immortalized, unless one slips into the sinkhole of your poetic verses

                      • L. B. Mek

or rather, its that mundane - reflected
in the mirror of my feeble scribbles
                        (you see tomatoes
                        I seek A, tomato) lol
thank you for your, far - too generous
                        words of support, I'm humbled
                        truly..

                      • Coyote
