Time to say goodbye

Blue Violet

Time to say goodbye

my mind knows,

but my heart is not ready

to let you go.

They say it's hopeless

for you and me

that we are just meant to meet,

not meant to be.

How could I not know,

there is no chance for us.

You smiled, but your eyes showed

blatantly no love

either for me, or any parts of mine

that's why you stopped

and drew the line.

How could I not know,

the signs were so obvious.

How could I not know,

it would never be "us".

Yet,

I can't help but falling

head over heels.

Like the wise man said, I'm a fool

yearning for a love that kills.

My love,

please leave me for I won't be able to leave you

promise me you won't look back

as you will see my darkest blue,

and please make sure we don't cross our paths

for if I ever catch your eyes again

I will run back

to you, my love

without a second of hesitation.

I guess

goodbye, for now

perhaps, farewell.

    sincere in its worded anguish
    and clever in poetic phrasing:
    'for you and me
that we are just meant to meet,
    not meant to be.'
    (thanks for sharing)

Thank you for your comment! It means the world to me

I agree with LB Mek - this phrase was stellar: that we are just meant to meet, not meant to be

Disclaimer: the sentence was inspired by a quote I read back then: “some people are meant to meet, not meant to be.” I love that quote so I decided to add it in. Sorry for the confusion.

The sentence itself in my poem is just a variant from my favorite quote.

Love is the most beautiful kind of madness, you captured this so beautifully. Thank you for sharing something so personal, I'm currently facing the same harsh truth that some people don't always stick around.
