Good Morning Mr. Dunphy

Accidental Poet

Good morning Mr. Dunphy

I’m fine thank you

Yes, you may have seen me before

I’ve driven by a time or two

I grew up in this town

Even fell in love with a little girl

She used to live in your house

Man, she was my whole world

Please don’t think I’m being nosy

But when ever I drive by

My mind goes back

To a younger, sweeter time

Her smile forever in my heart

Sharon is her name

She sparked everlasting love in me

 An eternal true love flame

The prettiest girl I’d ever seen

She was all I could think of

One look at her smile

And I was head over heels in love

“How long ago was this?” you ask

Just about 50 years since she left

Off to the west coast she went

That she couldn’t stay, my lifelong regret

But I look at your house

And my memory comes alive

So have a nice day Mr. Dunphy

Till next time on my nostalgic drive

Charming little ride down main street and past Mr. Dunphy''s house.....

    • Accidental Poet

Thank you Lorna. The house has been remodeled now and I think Mr. Dunphy must have sold it. So I don't go by the house anymore as I want to remember it the way it was when Sharon lived there.

Thank you, Yes Coyote, some loves won't let you forget. And I've no problem with that. 😉

I hitched a literary lift and felt every little bump and swerve along the way .. and the journey was every bit as enjoyable as you painted it sir ... a super nostalgic journey back in time to a place where a little bit of ya heart still resides .................... N 🙂
