Far too long it’s been
Since I last saw you
Just teenagers were we
And still my heart is true
After fifty years I miss you more than ever
Love compounding day by day
And I never expected you to love me
No holding back what my heart needs to say
Sharon, I long to see your smiling face
Your laughter grow from grin to giggle
And from your nose you try to hide
A scrunched up silly wiggle
To stand beside you
And stroll down memory lane
To relive our history together
And hear you say my name
The look on your face, an emotional reaction
To the final scene of a romantic love story
Of pride on your face
From knowing you’re still my glory
I ‘d wrap my arms around you
Share a reassuring hug
Arms ever tighter
Revealing from my heart your magnetic tug
If the angel of love
Could make a miracle deal
With the keeper of misplaced hearts
To bring you and I together for real
