River of Love

Freni Karaluthara

From mountain of Love the river rises,
It flows gently and calmly, kissing and embracing,
both banks on its way to the ocean of love,
watering every vine and bramble, fig and thorn

I felt, I was entering into this river of love,
and flowing smoothly alone with it on its way.
It was a river sheer unfamiliar to me,
I admired its calmness, beauty and depth.

I knew not what its thoughts were, but
it solicited me to flow along with it, I thought.
Like a prankful child I played on its banks.
It furthered and cared for my every desire to swim.

I paced a few steps with wavering heart,
love pressed me from every side,
that persuaded me to go to the deep end,
and never before did I enjoy such a delight.

My steps were sure and firm and
I wish to flow with her to ocean of love.

  • Fay Slimm.

What an apt image you penned in this charming verse for the flow of love Freni - - and getting to the ocean itself with love enough to swim forever in sounds so beautifully romantic - wishing you a that fine destiny where love keeps you afloat dear poet friend.
