One Step at a Time

Steve0875

Poof, Lookie there, here he is on the stage of life.  Oblivious to the pain and hurt that lies ahead.

One step after another, no landing like the last one.  Only faith will lead you to when it’s done.

Uncertainty is your truth in life and only an experience can straighten your path.

Here comes the next step, close your eyes and just do it.  Take a chance.  You’ll live, they’ll say.

Oops there’s a rock, just get over it, they’ll say.  Broken ankle, it’ll be alright, they’ll say.

But it’s not alright, it hurts really bad.  I feel like I’m dying, but you’re fine, they’ll say.

Are they right to tell me that, is it true?  Will I live, will the pain go away?  Will it be alright?

All I know is I just want someone to love me, and hug me, and hold me and tell me,

I know it’s not ok, but I will be with you through it all one faithful step at a time.

Feel the pain and allow it to direct you.  Feel the pain and allow it to strengthen you.

Let the pain correct your internal guide, feel the pain to know what you’re feeling.

It’s ok to walk through that pain and feel it.  You may never be the same.

That’s the beauty of feeling pain, it can take you to a new place.

A place of understanding and peace, a place to rest before your next step.

The launch, the flight and the landing of your next step, you ponder the journey.

What will it be like this time, will I land softly? Will I crash and burn?

That last step hurt so bad.  Left me scarred and changed forever.

Decision time is here, along with it fear.

I’ve learned from my last step,

It’s ok to trust yourself, it’s ok to believe, step in faith but keep wisdom near.

Thank you. I feel there’s a deep well in me as I recover from trauma. There will be more.
