Sleep Forever

Heather Elizabeth

To sleep forever is what I long for
Searching for you,
   through dimensional corridors
The night will always be
The day will never come
I could float forever, never feeling the sun

Sifting through each and every door
Would you be in that void,
   searching for me
Would our souls connect once more

Or, are we lost for eternity
Two shells washed away on distant shores
Always one-half of what should be
Each breath is pain in that reality

So, I close my eyes imagining us together
I will be searching for you
Please don't awake me
I long to sleep forever

'Two shells washed away on distant shores
Always one-half of what should be
Each breath is pain in that reality'..
    a beautifully worded depiction
of that endless ache of yearning
    when we say goodbye
    but never: let go...
    (thanks for sharing
another wonderfully relatable read, dear poet)
