sins of greed

Inko

truth is treason in an empire of lies
building a dynasty, but it’s just my disguise
the illusions of war, delusions accepted to the core
distracted by the material things and shining ore
in my hands of gold, through eyes so cold
bound to this sinful throne, a story that’s been left untold

diamond rings, denying their kings
names in gold, their stories left untold
the voices sing, about the shining things
our hearts of gold, always tend to mold

paying for my molten bones
my heart and soul, is forever torn
shadows in the dark standing all alone
my pawns are souls, forever left to mourn
counting the days until i turn into stone
my sins of greed, is all i know

believing is treason, illusions of breathing
broken kings, chains and gold
in an empire that’s always been forever bleeding
seeing is reason, delusions are controlled
in a world of distrust, came forth my lust
on the throne of rust, i turn into dust

diamond ore, turns into coal
silk sheets of gold, feeling so cold
a hellfire, burning in my soul
iron so cold, and never getting old

paying for my molten bones
my heart and soul, is forever torn
shadows in the dark standing all alone
my pawns are souls, forever left to mourn
counting the days until i turn into stone
my sins of greed, is all i know

a dynasty built to fall so many ages ago
to the material things i hold so close
a foreign desire, forged by fire
my sins of greed, is all i know

  • Comment from author about the poem: About the darker side of human nature because deep down everyone is greedy and it maybe at different levels but we all have greed and its not something to be ignored just because its not a "happy" theme. This is a reflection of my moments of greed. Even when i had everything i was blinded by something that didnt really matter. So here is my experience with greed. Thank you
