A Cloudy Morning in Paris

Brandon Elder

A cloudy morning in Paris

But there is a sun above this weathery terrace

The rain falls gently, its aroma hovers

What a beautiful place I have discovered

I fell for this place, infatuated with the foliage

But I have found deeper gems in her protection

She shields me from the tyrant called time

And her fragrant flowers confuse my ambitious mind

Only when I was lost did I find

What I truly desired: this medicine for my mind

What a joy there is in beautiful silence

The estate of my soul has no fence

The rain falling as lightly as a heart's flutter

Every blink captures this moment with it's shutter

My soul longs to dance with the flowers

But my shell called body limits these powers

I envy my companion, this cat

For this is his full time home

In this foreign land, he is my diplomat

In this park, he will forever roam

But me, I must depart

The tyrant is calling for my return

But the poison from these flowers' hearts

Will be enough to maintain my soul and it's burn
