Free At Last

vkotnik

Glistening.

Warm.

Bright.

Bubbles ripple across the surface.

Catching the sunlight,

Throwing rainbows like prisms.

The colors dance across the world,

Whirling and twirling.

Such joy!

So this is how it is when the shadows recede.

When the shackles are broken.

Shivering in the cold no longer,
Desperate to see anything in the inky blackness,

Straining to hear anything in the deafening blackness

Wanting to touch

And be touched

Blinking back tears that throw rainbows on my face

Mirroring the bubbles across the surface.

I stand in the light at last.

Face raised to radiance.

Free at last.
