winter

Inko

embers dancing in the dark
like the shadows on my walls
if i could just make it tonight
then i'll know we'll be alright

Cotton down of winter skies
Eiderdown of frost does lie
Moonlight on the frozen snow
Cheers our hearts and warms our souls

Hoar frost, piercing through the still air
A certain chill devouring all life for months on end
A hush for nature that only this season could ever wear
A welcoming fireplace will be your best friend

Many a seasonal Winter
Here in New England has been
Nor 'Easters and Blizzards
Thermometers a frosty ten
"If you don't like the weather,
wait a minute, it'll change"
We get it all here
Snow, hail, sleet and rain

and the cleansing rain doth pour
over all, two legs and four
in its drops the secret rhyme
words of life and growth, in time

Edit

Though Winter's song
Portends to days
Cloaked in death and darkness
Once golden leaves
Left to decay
Make way for Spring's new promise
