The Unseen Diamonds Of The Slum

Darsana

"Heavenly stars play before my eyes,Holding their hands through the lovely path,

And I see it, I feel it,

The joy, that no one brings ever,The joy that a lonely heart is seeking.

Sun and the moon, rise to see their face,

Breeze in the dawn tickles to wake them up,

Monsoon springs, showers to embrace them

Clouds on the sky, rushing to watch them play.

Though the oceans are vast for them to sail,

Currents are high pulling them back,

They do fight to keep up their breath,

Up and down in our nasty busy life.

With no doubts about the future,

Nor of the past, they live in the present

Each and every moment,

tucked away from the crowd

The unseen diamonds of the slum."

  • Comment from author about the poem: Long back, during a busy rainy day, when I was traveling home after my college, I saw a group of slum kids playing. They were standing on the muddy ground in dirty clothes laughing, holding hands, jumping high. The happiness on their face and their carefree nature astonished me. They were not bothered about the people passing by or the rain falling on them.\r\nIn this greedy world where greed for material choices never ends, there lives a group of kids who don\\\'t have proper clothes, proper meals, or even a proper shelter, but could manage to keep smiling. Despite having every essential in life, we keep on complaining. We often don\\\'t have the eyes to see what we actually have. If these kids on the street could remain happy even after all the miseries they are facing, we could definitely be.\r\nFind some time to look at nature, read a book, restart your hobbies, connect with friends, and always wear that smile on your lips. Life is too short. Stop complaining and act smart. I would like to share a poem that I wrote immediately after I saw these kids, my little effort to be cheerful.

Very romantic , with a good message. And since those kid's lives will probably be short, let's hope they obtain a little joy somewhere....
