Healing

Pacifique Niyitanga

Hurting is a sign to the pain,
Every single cut leads to bleeding
At this time, I seek for medication;
Longing for a change and recovery
I sometimes feel pain but the healing—
Numbs it and I feel alright with the scars—
Growing on my skin; strengthening my soul.

    'I sometimes feel pain but the healing-
    Numbs it and I feel alright with the scars-
    Growing on my skin, strengthening..'
    Empowering!
    imbued with that resurgent spirit
    of one, who has survived
    the worst of torments in life,
    thanks for sharing, dear poet

    I used to see scars on my wife, like on her knees, or on her back where her running bra would leave a mark, or on her belly from minor surgery, as little flaws. Now that we are both older I see them as beauty marks from a life well lived. Scars hopefully bring strength! Thanks for sharing your own take on that.
