Nightmare

Pacifique Niyitanga

I saw the stars in the blue sky;
The same time I lost peace in my heart.
Hopelessly, I started praying for my sins,
And every single breathe brought pain.

One day longer than a 1000 years;
I felt like the world was a small dot,
And the seas were a single rain drop!
With my crying eyes, I saw devil's face.

God was noway near by my side,
I thought I was supposed to die right there,
But death rejected my call, and I survived.
It was nothing like my end, it was just a dream.

    wonderful, really liked your flow
    great use of contradiction in your imagery:
    'One day longer than a 1000 years;'
    'And the seas were a single rain drop'
    to highlight
    how removed from reality you felt, in that moment..
    thanks for sharing, dear poet
